SoapNuts & Wool Dryer Balls ~ Clean Laundry Naturally
How do you like to live you life? Naturally? If you like natural products without chemicals you need to make sure you are not using regular clothes detergents and dryer sheets. Instead, to keep your world natural you should be using SoapNuts and Wool Dryer Balls.
For all of you new mom’s Little Lamb’s SoapNuts are 100% Organic making them the ideal baby laundry detergent leaving your baby’s clothes naturally clean and incredibly soft!! They are even recommended for cloth diapers.
I was sent the Little Lamb’s Soap Nuts, 6 Pack Dryer Balls, 4 Pack Dryer Balls, and the 3 Pack Dryer Balls with Soap Nuts Sample to review for all of you.
What Are SoapNuts
SoapNuts are actually berries from the Soap Berry Tree. So for those of you worried about a nut allergy, they are not a nut! These berries grow on trees, ripen and drop to the ground. Then they are collected and dried naturally in the sun. They contain saponin, which is known as Mother Nature’s soap! This natural soap is released from the SoapNut when agitated in water.
My main question was if I could use them in my front load washing machine. I found tip on a SoapNut information page:
Some front loading washing machines use only a small amount of water, so using SoapNuts in the wash bag supplied may not give an effective clean. Instead, bring to the boil and then simmer your SoapNuts in water for 20 minutes, then strain the liquid concentrate and use this in your front loader drawer. Use 10 whole SoapNuts (half cup of broken pieces) to 1 litre of water. Be sure to simmer on the lowest heat or your liquid will boil and bubble over….which wouldn’t be so terrible as it would clean your stove top at the same time!
However, on the packaging of the Little Lamb SoapNuts is does give directions for HE and front load machines.
For HE front loading washing machine, place the wash bag in a sink or container of hot water while you load your laundry before putting the bag into the machine. The hot water activates the saponin in the soap berries.
It is my understanding that it does not hurt your HE front load machine at all!! However, you do need a good amount of water to make sure the berries activate.
My Thoughts
I am loving the SoapNuts and the dryer balls! My clothes are coming out cleaner feeling and softer than they have when I use regular detergent and dryer sheets. The dryer balls do make some noise in the dryer but not really that loud. I only noticed because I was listening for it.
I do have a front load washing machine and it has worked great by just placing the bag in water first to activate the berries. While this is an extra step for me, the peace of mind using natural products for my family is worth it to me.

I didn’t think you could use something natural for the laundry. Guess I was wrong. Very informative. Thanks.

I commented on here because I really like this idea of using all natural ingredients! I have psoriasis and am a red head so i have very sensitive skin. Also I really believe that any little thing we can do to help the environment we should try to do. Going to look into ordering these!
