Summer Vacation Baby Travel Tips
Having a baby does not mean staying at home all the time and getting away as a family can provide some quality time for parents and child to bond. Travelling with a baby does present challenges though and those doing it will need to plan accordingly. The following are some ideas to consider.
Last Minute Getaways
Looking after a baby can be tiring and take up a lot of time so lengthy planning for a trip may not always be easy. However, last minute holidays 2014 are perfect for families who want to achieve a fun-filled vacation and don’t have ample time to make bookings and other important stuff. The internet makes it easy to book late deals these days so busy parents do not need to spend too much time doing it. They also present the chance to secure some good discounts to keep the cost of going away down.
Check with an airline before booking to see what their policies are for babies on board. Many offer free travel for children below two years old, where they will not actually need a seat and can remain on a parents lap. Others may require that a seat is purchased for use with a standard car seat. Also, check if an airline offers cot seats. These are generally center aisle front row seats where a carrycot supplied by the airline can be attached to the bulkhead in front of the seats. This can allow a baby to sleep in comfort during a flight.
Be sure to carry a bag filled with a child’s favorite toys. Maybe, try not to bring noise making toys if you are flying but, for your own car trip as long as it won’t drive you crazy. This can keep them entertained if they are awake during travel. However, try to time traveling to a baby’s normal bedtime as it will be easier if they sleep.
Consider renting an apartment or a condo rather than staying at a hotel. Being cooped up in one room with a baby is not always easy and an apartment or condo you have more space. They also have facilities similar to home that make it easier to look after a baby. This includes a kitchen for preparing food.
Vacationing with a baby is possible and spending some relaxing time as a family can be fun. The tips shown above are some to consider when planning to travel with a youngster. Take them on board to have an experience that parents and child will enjoy. This summer we have gone to Gulf Shores, AL and New Orleans, LA. I will have those experiences posted soon for all of you to show you it can be done with a family!
