HOW TO MAKE TRAVELING FOR KIDS MORE ENJOYABLE
It is fun to travel with kids, but sometimes it can turn out to be quite a challenge to keep a good mood and have fun no matter what. Especially then your little ones are getting bored and start to nag a lot. But now you can relax. In this article, you will find some easy tips how to make traveling for kids a lot more enjoyable. It is easy to do and it really works! So – let’s go to it right away and let’s rediscover the joy of traveling once more.
Book early
How can this work? Well if you book your flight early, you will be able to sit with the whole family all together. And that is going to make your kids enjoy traveling a lot more because they can share their experiences with you whenever they want to. It is also easier for you to maintain them and to make sure if they are ok. So – definitely try to book your flight a few months before the trip. You will be able to sit all together and also save money!
Usually, early booked tickets are cheaper than last minute. You can use that for your benefit for sure. You can also make it a lot cheaper with, for instance, these Hotels.com coupons available at ChameleonJohn.com. These will let you save money on plane tickets, hotel rooms, and other travel essentials.
Book during nap time
If it is possible, try to book your plane tickets around the time then your little ones are usually having their nap time. Or it can be during a night then kids tend to sleep too. It can actually help them enjoy traveling a lot more. Everyone can get well-rested and get prepared for many adventures waiting next day. Of course, it might have some disadvantages. For instance – kids can become quite energized and just can’t go to sleep because of all their excitement. That means they will all up all night and tired all day. But I do believe it is worth to try. Especially if your kids are still pretty small. Simply because they usually just fall asleep everywhere they feel like it.
Keep them busy
You can make your kids enjoy a long trip even more if you just make sure they are all busy and always doing something. You can even prepare a special traveling kit that is full of many fun activities suitable for kids. Put stuff like books, DVD’s, coloring books or everything else your kids are going to love doing. By using this emergency traveling fun kit, kids can spend their time by doing something and forgetting about long traveling hours. And they can even learn something too!
Keep them fed
And, of course, keep your kids fed and they will be all happy and smiley. Always pack some healthy snacks with you and regularly offer it for your children. Hungry kids are usually angry and definitely nag a lot and that is not what you or fellow passengers wish to see. So just keep some apples, cookies or other sweet and healthy snacks nearby you. That will keep kids away from being hungry and you will see how much fun they are going to have.

We like to keep our destination a secret and then give out hints where we might be going. The kids love guessing and it is only one guess per hr or 1/2 hr depending how far we are traveling. The kids make the guess together so they have to agree. The look for hints and read the clues. When we drive home they kids are putting items from their trip into their scrapbooks.

Great tips. When I was a kid we traveled a lot and my mom would take us to the store, and we could choose a book, a game, and a snack. Then she would pack them and we couldn’t use them until we left. Then we would be so excited to finally be able to play with them that it was even more exciting. We also had a lot of songs we would sing, they were our “traveling song”. My mom was really good at making sure we were entertained.

Thanks for sharing this list! We take the kids to visit their Aunt at least 4 to 5 times a week and it’s almost 2 hours one way. I’ve definitely found that keeping them busy and keeping them fed are the two most important ones for us. Luckily, we have a DVD player for the kids to watch from the back in their car seats. Their currently loving Finding Nemo for the long car rides 🙂

If you’re flying, try to take the red eye flight. Nothing is worse than hearing someone elses kid screaming. On a plane, you’re pretty much stuck.

These are really great tips to share! I traveled with some child relatives once and it was very hard on them because they were as scared as I was. I had to be the adult, swallow my own worries, and be there for them. I brought coloring and activity books, and a tablet with their shows to help them enjoy the flight. It worked really well! We just had to get through take off…. LOL. 😉

I traveled with my kids from Europe to the USA and planning is the key. The airlines were helpful providing a fun pack and seem to be very attentive. I also took coloring books, as this is a quiet activity. Sleeping wasn’t even an option as they were too excited. The fact that there were videos going on the back of the seats helped , a lot. It was like their own private TV.
If they are young, take a collapsible stroller (pushchair) because carry kids with luggage is no fun.
Also don’t be afraid to ask for help if you need it.
