Are you looking for the perfect bike for your toddler? You may ask when is your child ready for a bike? If you child can walk, they can ride a Strider! That is one of their slogans. 🙂 Strider makes no-pedal balance bikes that encourage toddlers to ride, learn, and explore the world on two wheels. They were designed to help toddlers learn balance and coordination before learning to pedaling.
After thinking about it it makes total since to me now! Why put them on a bike first to learn how to pedal then work on balance…that makes no since! First put them on a bike to teach balance THEN you can put them on a bike with pedals later.
Our Strider ST-4 bike arrived in only a few pieces and is VERY easy to put together!
Strider’s mission is to build lightweight, efficient, all-terrain bikes that develop two-wheeled balance, coordination, and confidence in children. So, when we received the bike we thought it would be perfect for Zackery, our three year old. Well, Zackery does love riding the bike but, it actually has turned out to be a surprise to us as to who it taught to ride a bike without training wheels! While the Strider ST-4 bike is designed for children from 18 months to 5 years old our son, Hagan, age 8 still rode using training wheels at Christmas. After we gave this to Zackery at Christmas Hagan kinda took it over in the house riding it also. I might point out to you also that Hagan is small for his age, he was a preemie. {It has been really cold outside….so I just let them ride it in the house.}
Now to our delight Hagan now know how to ride a bike without training wheels!! We just told him to practice going down the hallway and he gained the confidence he needed! We took the training wheels off his bike the next week! REALLY, this is the bike you should start your kids off on so the move up with confidence on balancing first.
Meanwhile, Zackery is doing great at learning to ride.

It is great to teach the child how to balance and will make it so much easier to ride a real bike later on.

I LOVE what the article said “If you child can walk, they can ride a Strider” One of my biggest worries
when they start learning how to ride is that they will fall and hit their head. I know they are suppose
to wear helmets, but sometimes they take them off without my knowledge & it sounds like with this
bike, they would be less likely to get hurt, especially with a bike that weighs less & balances better.

It makes so much sense to teach balance before pedaling. This is a great ride.

My granddaughter really small for her age also so this would be perfect for her!!! Thanks for the review, now to go find out how much it costs. I hope it isn’t overly expensive!!

Thanks for the great review. This balance bike looks well made. I like the smaller handgrips for little hands. I would love to have this balance bike in orange for my grandson.

My sister-in-law swears a balance bike helped her son become a pro at bike riding. I myself (older generation) had training wheels, but I bet I would have had less anxiety transitioning if I were already used to two wheels.

Zackery loks quite proud of himself!! Wish I had known about these when my 6 yr old was freaking out he couldn’t ride with his 4 older siblings a few yrs ago-AWESOME that it teaches them to balance and they get to go Flintstone style by walking.Awesome!
