I have kids with allergies and asthma so I hate to use harsh cleansing agents like bleach, ammonia and acids. These chemicals can produce indoor air pollution and give off toxic fumes that can irritate your eyes and lungs. This is the last thing I want for my family!
Use a Steam Mop ~ There are several different steam mops on the market that all you to clean using the power of steam rather than harsh cleaners. You can use vinegar and water if you do not like the idea of just steam.
Make Your Own Cleaners ~ Lemon juice and vinegar work great for grease, stains, and mildew. Baking Soda and water work great to clean your oven. Just leave on overnight and wipe off in the morning. Using vinegar and water you can clean mirrors. Keep a spray bottle of water and vinegar to spray the shower curtain after your showers, it keeps away the mildew! Works great! Vinegar also works great at cleaning coffee pots…..vinegar is like the non-toxic miracle cleaner to me. 🙂
Green Carpet Cleaning Service~ There are services out there that offer alternative ways to clean instead of using harsh chemicals. You can have your rugs and carpets cleaned without having to breath in all the chemicals just do a search for services in your area.

I frequently put lemon in my water and will make my own orange juice at home. I put all the citrus fruit peels in a glass jar, cover with vinegar, and let sit for 2 weeks. I use this on EVERYTHING I need cleaned!
